    Klaus Bretterbauer received his doctorate in technical chemistry at the Johannes Kepler University Linz in 2010. In his postdoctoral employment, he developed his first research group, which worked on synthesizing and testing nanoparticle-immobilized polyolefin stabilizers. From 2014 on, he broadened his expertise in international project management and the development of medical devices at Greiner Bio-One GmbH. Since 2019, he has been appointed as an assistant professor at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, leading a material science research group. Currently, he is engaged in the synthesis, characterization, and application-related testing of designed polymers optimized for battery applications.

    After training as a machine fitter, Stefan Maier completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineering technician. After his apprenticeship, he gained his first insights into the world of robots at a renowned robot manufacturer. After several years in technical sales, he took over the management of the plastics automation and laser technology divisions. With the specialised knowledge he gained in these areas, Stefan Maier founded ROBOT-TECHNOLOGY in 2001, which has developed into the market leader in the field of laser cutting systems with robots for plastic components over the last 23 years. For the past 5 years, the product range has been expanded to include robot-assisted production systems in the field of battery modules for e-mobility.

Max Rettenmeier

Industry Manager and PhD Candidte for Battery Recycling | TRUMPF SE + Co. KG

  • Short vita

    Max Rettenmeier completed a bachelor's and master's degree in industrial engineering. As part of his bachelor's degree, he gained experience in automation technology, including in the USA. During his Master's degree, he worked at TRUMPF in Industry Management for battery pack production and Global Key Account Management. He then worked as a research assistant and product manager at Fraunhofer FFB, researching the sustainable and efficient battery cell production of the future. Since 2023, he has been responsible for battery recycling in Industry Management at TRUMPF and is also researching the laser-assisted dismantling of traction batteries at the Graduate School of Excellence advanced Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.

Adrian de Riz

    Adrian got his start in battery technology by importing battery cells from China. A DAAD semester abroad in China led to an encounter with Royma Industrial CT and paved the way for his current position. Adrian completed his Master's degree in Business Analytics at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou. His experience in 100% testing of electrode overhang for cell production makes him a valuable expert in the German battery industry.

    Dr. Olaf Sauer studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe. After working at the Fraunhofer IPK in Berlin, Bombardier Transportation in Aachen and Berlin and the METROPLAN Group in Hamburg, he headed the Control Systems division at the Fraunhofer IOSB from 2004 to 2012, where he is now Deputy Director of the Institute. He is a lecturer for "Digitalisation in Production" at the University of Kassel.
